In Sanatana Dharma, Pitru Paksha (September 26, 2026 – October 10, 2026) is a sacred 16-day period dedicated to expressing gratitude, reverence, and devotion to our departed ancestors (Pitrus). While rituals like Tarpan and Pind Daanare performed, ancient scriptures declare that Anna Daan (feeding the hungry) is the highest and most fulfilling form of offering.
Serving a pure, wholesome meal to innocent souls during these holy tithis directly satisfies the ancestral spirits, cleanses Pitru Dosha, and channels divine blessings of peace, health, and lineage prosperity (Vamsha Vriddhi) into our households.
At Matruchhaya Balak Ashram, Pune, dozens of orphaned and underprivileged children rely entirely on communal kindness for daily sustenance. While routine provisions cover bare essentials, festive and nutrient-dense wholesome meals remain a rare privilege.
During Pitru Paksha, when millions seek meaningful ways to remember their departed elders, bridging this sacred intent with the daily hunger of young children creates genuine spiritual and social transformation.
Cultural traditions often hold profound opportunities for social good. During the 16-day period of Pitru Paksha (Sep 26 – Oct 10, 2026), Sukachi Sawali Welfare Foundation is leading an initiative to ensure that ancestral tribute translates into immediate nutritional support for vulnerable children.
Through Pitru Anna Prasadam 2026, we are sponsoring balanced, high-protein, wholesome meals for orphaned children residing at Matruchhaya Balak Ashram in Pune.
At a transparent cost of ₹250 per meal, community members and corporate partners can sponsor daily meal drives starting from ₹2,500 (10 children) up to ₹25,000 (ashram-wide sponsorship of 100 children).
