**Event Description**

Shielding Lives, One Umbrella at a Time

As the monsoon clouds roll over Maharashtra, bringing heavy downpours to Mumbai and Pune, thousands of families living on the streets face severe hardship. Without a roof over their heads, basic survival becomes a daily battle.

Sukachi Sawali Welfare Foundation is launching the Umbrella Distribution Drive. Our goal is to provide high-quality, durable family-sized umbrella sets directly to pavement dwellers, street vendors, and homeless families who have absolutely no shelter to escape the relentless rains. This initiative is designed to provide immediate respite, dignity, and protection from the harsh monsoon.

How Sukachi Sawali Welfare Foundation is Making The difference

  • ## The Deep-Rooted Need for This Event

For those of us with a roof over our heads, the monsoon brings a welcome drop in temperature and the comfort of indoor spaces. But for the homeless population of Mumbai and Pune, the rain is an unforgiving adversary.

    • Complete Spatial Vulnerability: Unlike typical urban residents, street dwellers have no walls to block the wind and no ceilings to stop the downpour. They sleep on damp concrete, wrapped in thin plastics that easily tear, completely exposed to the elements 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

    • The Looming Health Crisis: Constant exposure to wet clothes and stagnant water triggers an immediate spike in severe health conditions. Every monsoon, hospitals see a surge in pneumonia, severe respiratory infections, skin diseases, and vector-borne illnesses like dengue and malaria among street communities. Children and the elderly bear the brunt of this trauma.

    • Destruction of Minimal Belongings: When the heavy rains hit, a homeless family’s entire life—ration cards, spare clothes, identity proofs, and school books for their children—can be destroyed in a matter of minutes.

    • The Cycle of Economic Paralysis: Many who live on the streets are daily wage earners, cobblers, or street vendors. Without protection from the rain, they cannot stand on the roads to earn their living. No work means no food, turning a rainy day into a day of hunger.

## Impact Calculator & Donation Chart

To ensure the highest standard of protection, Sukachi Sawali Welfare Foundation has sourced heavy-duty, reinforced umbrellas capable of withstanding the intense coastal winds of Mumbai and the heavy downpours of Pune.

  • The Unit Cost: ₹600 provides 1 Set of Durable Umbrellas, customized to shield a family of 3.

  • Maximizing Our Reach: To ensure our distribution teams can logically cover entire clusters and slums efficiently, we have set a minimum donation request of ₹1,800 (which fully protects 3 families).

## Why This Initiative Matters: A Portable Roof

An umbrella might seem like a simple, everyday object, but to a family living on a footpath, it represents something profound: a portable, immediate roof.

“An umbrella is a shield for a mother trying to feed her infant in a downpour. It is a dry sanctuary for a child trying to study under a streetlamp. It is a safeguard for a street vendor’s daily stock, ensuring they don’t slide into debt.”

By supporting this drive, you are providing more than just material aid. You are actively preventing medical emergencies, preserving the dignity of human lives, and offering a vital psychological anchor. You are telling these families that even in the middle of the harshest storm, their community has not abandoned them.

### **Why This Initiative Matters**

  • ## Why This Initiative Matters

An umbrella is more than just a piece of fabric; for a family on the street, it is a portable roof.

“Providing an umbrella means protecting a child’s health, keeping a family’s meager belongings dry, and giving a street vendor the chance to earn their daily bread despite the downpour.”

By supporting this drive, you are not just giving material aid—you are offering immediate relief, preventing health crises, and showing our most vulnerable neighbors that they have not been forgotten.

### **Transparency Promise**

  • ## Transparency Promise: Your Trust, Our Core Value

At Sukachi Sawali Welfare Foundation, accountability is our foundational principle. We treat your hard-earned money with the utmost respect. When you donate to the Umbrella Distribution Drive, we promise:

    • 100% Allocation to Relief: Every single rupee of your ₹600 package goes straight into manufacturing, transporting, and distributing the umbrella sets. No donor funds are diverted toward internal administrative overheads for this project.

    • Granular Field Reports: We don’t just claim impact; we show it. Every donor receives a comprehensive digital report post-distribution. This includes the exact GPS locations of the drives in Mumbai and Pune, high-definition photographs, and video documentation of the distribution process.

    • Verified Financial Audits: At the close of the monsoon season, a fully transparent, line-item financial utilization report audited by independent Chartered Accountants will be published on our website and emailed directly to you.
